Published in conjunction with his exhibit at the Bell Gallery, It’s About Love is Franklin Williams’ first major monograph at eighty-six.

The organizing system was built from a research artifact that wasn’t intended to be published; a scanned, typed page written by Williams.

The interleaving of his voice creates an alternating narrative with his work and serves to give a glimpse into his personality and thinking for the reader.

The enlargements investigate the surface and scale, stitching, painting and beading that exemplify Williams’s style and would otherwise go unnoticed.

When the book is closed the organizing system becomes sculptural, the artist’s voice appearing as colored stripes around the book’s edge.
