Julien Creuzet's early-career retorspective book including installations from the Venice Biennale, Brown University and Grenoble and performances from three continents. Seven curatorial essays each in French and English.
On the cover is a statue of Neptune submerged and inverted in the water, the type cut off at the bottom, sinking out of its frame, language interrupted by the sea. Giving the feeling of something monumental, upended, mysterious and of a rebirth.

Creuzet intentionally refrains from offering explanations of his work embodying Édouard Glissant’s right to opacity, the idea that individuals and cultures have the right to remain untranslatable to the dominant point of view.
Essay lay hidden, veiled each veiled in a translucent still from one of Julien Creuzet’s videos. Beneath the vellum’s surface fragments of the essay’s opening text emerge as language but one that is not legible.

The book for Brown University’s, Bell Gallery derives its concept from research and dialogue into Creuzet’s work and ideology moving beyond a catalogue of images to build a world that delivers meaning through the evocation of thought and feeling.

Attila cataract’s (…) organizational system establishes a tidal recurrence of ideas starting with Creuzet’s poetic title that leaves interpretation fluid as it spreads across the opening thirteen pages of the book in large type against a wash of blue.

The title is the entryway, the threshold that sets an intention of looking, experiencing and thinking. The French title closes the book and the movement of the tide.
