We worked with Marshall Scheuttle a Las Vegas based artist on his book Morningstar, that shows us a Las Vegas in which the sky and the city, both blinkered with stars, stare back at each other impassively. The space between flashes moments which loom on the edge of an impending storm, or stillness in the wake of violent transgression.

Our design has no cover type, instead there is a small cutout star that shows a golden shimmer and leads us on a journey past the endpaper to discover its source is the gold foil from the title page. Here we learn the title of the book and have begun the experience of searching, like the people in Scheuttle’s portraits.
